The Two Festivals of Liyang, namely the 2023 China · Liyang Tea Festival and Tianmu Lake Tourism Festival, were successfully launched on April 10th, highlighting the thriving business environment and tourist appeal of Liyang, Changzhou. The opening ceremony witnessed the signing of 39 major projects, amounting to a staggering investment of over 33.2 billion yuan. The projects cover a diverse range of industries, including manufacturing, cultural tourism, agriculture, and human resources. Liyang's tea industry, which covers an impressive 72,000 mu of land (roughly 4,800 hectares), is a central theme of the Two Festivals. The area boasts 50,000 mu dedicated to the cultivation of white tea, which is a local specialty and a significant contributor to the region's annual tea production of over 1,300 tons. This thriving industry generates an impressive output value of 1.5 billion yuan annually, supported by over 300 local businesses. Cultural tourism is another area where Liyang excels, with more than 400 vacation homes and condo rentals, including over 100 high-end ones, generating approximately one billion yuan in sales annually. The city's natural landscapes, local cuisine, and high-class facilities make it a popular destination, and this spring has seen an 81 percent increase in visitor flows compared to the same period in 2019, marking a leading recovery trend across Jiangsu province. Aside from agriculture and cultural tourism, Liyang is also a major player in the EV battery and high-end stainless steel industries, boasting two 100-billion-yuan worth industrial clusters. At the Two Festivals' opening ceremony, renowned electric vehicle makers such as Maxus, Tesla, and NIO showcased their latest EV models equipped with batteries made in Liyang, underscoring the region's significant contribution to China's electric vehicle market.
